Proper Birthday Wishes to Grandma!

I apologize for yesterday's post, I was feeling rather edgy while in the midst of the Lice invasion. All kids are now "clean" and back at school.

The day was fun and full of events. I started out Sunday morning at 7:30 with a 5-mile jog with my horse, Gem. It was a lot of work up and down hills, etc. in Independence Grove in Libertyville, IL.

That afternoon, the "Big Kahuna" (it says it right there on his shirt!) brought his family to our house to celebrate Lynnie's birthday.

Everyone had a great time!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Ahh...Mikey's Lice Music track (circa 1980s) rings in my ears. Yes, my children have lice. It is fantastic.

"Grandma, would you like some lice cream with that birthday cake?"

Madison: "Mommy! Kaiky's licing me!"

My Boiler Babes

...are pretty cute. Yes, it's still cold here, and Kaiky's got some allergies, but everyone is doing well.

Writers' Celebration

Kyle's class invited the parents to a Writers' Celebration where the kids read aloud some of the stories and reports they had worked on this spring. Kyle had thought he'd want to get up and read to the class and parents, but chickened out at the last minute. After the kids read, he showed me around to some of the work he'd done. The last picture is Kyle and his best friend, Noah.

Baseball, hotdogs...

We are in full swing! Kyle's team, the "Bulls" are doing pretty well despite the cold weather. Kyle's made some good plays out in the field, he earned a game ball by making a spectacular, back-handed catch at short stop. I couldn't believe it was him! He couldn't believe he made the catch. Everyone was very happy!
Kyle is also starting to consistently hit out to the outfield. Last season, he mainly hit grounders in the infield and it was tough to run it out and be safe on first.
We still practice every day together and we're seeing the effects on the field. Daddy has also put a spark in Kyle by ordering a batting cage. Hopefully it will be delivered before the three-day Memorial Weekend.

Take me out to the ball game!

Baseball season has started for Kyle! So we've been spending a lot of time lately at games in the cold and the rain. Since it was nice last night, we took the opportunity to practice with Kyle while Kaiky shuttled her fuzzy "kids" around in the Hummer.
